Organization Details
The Merah Putih Initiative (TMPI) is a non-government institution, formed out of a deep commitment to addressing Indonesia’s evolving policy environment. Our mission is to set a new benchmark on how the country’s policy priorities are designed, executed, and improved.
As national policy priorities expanded in scale and ambition, many lacked clear public articulation and faced challenges in grassroots execution, resulting in suboptimal impact despite their long-term importance.
TMPI exists to close these gaps and strengthen how policy intent translates into credible development outcomes.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an Investment & Fundraising Senior Associate to support the Chief Impact Investment Officer in building the long-term financial sustainability of TMPI. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the fundraising strategy, investor relationships, and investment pipeline of a foundation from the ground up.
Working closely with the CIIO and CFO engaging with the CEO and Board of Trustees, you will help design fundraising materials, manage relationships with investees and stakeholders, and prepare the investment documentation needed to bring deals to the Investment Committee (IC).
This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, an excellent writer and communicator, comfortable working directly with senior leadership, and passionate about mobilizing capital to address Indonesia’s most pressing development challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build investment decks for TMPI and TMPI Impact Investing, tailored to different audiences (institutional donors, family offices, DFIs, and strategic partners).
- Develop supporting materials — one-pagers, fund overviews, pitch narratives, and talking points — that clearly articulate the fund's mandate, sector thesis, and impact case.
- Support outreach to prospective donors and investors, including identifying targets, drafting outreach communications, and coordinating meetings and follow-ups.
- Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for impact investees and partner organizations, ensuring timely and professional follow-up on agreed next steps.
- Track engagement across the investor and investee pipeline, maintaining clear records of conversations, commitments, and outstanding action items.
- Coordinate scheduling, meeting preparation, and post-meeting follow-through for the CIIO's external stakeholder engagements.
- Write project screening memos to assess and triage incoming opportunities against TMPI's sector mandate and impact criteria.
- Draft full investment memos — covering deal rationale, financial structure, impact thesis, and risk assessment — to prepare opportunities for Investment Committee (IC) review.
- Support due diligence coordination and ensure documentation is IC-ready, well-sourced, and consistent with TMPI's investment policy framework.
Experience & Qualifications
- 2–5+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity/venture capital, development finance, fundraising, or a related field.
- Strong written and visual communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build polished decks and clear, well-structured memos.
- Comfort working directly with senior leadership and external stakeholders, with sound judgment and professional discretion.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple relationships and deliverables in a fast-moving, early-stage environment.
- Genuine interest in impact investing and Indonesia's development finance landscape.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in investment analysis, venture capital, corporate finance, consulting, startup strategy, fundraising, or related fields.
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills.
- Ability to assess business opportunities and investment cases.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving and entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial analysis tools.
What We Offer
- A rare opportunity to build and lead the fundraising, partnership, and growth function of a mission-driven organization from its earliest stages.
- Exposure to senior government officials, philanthropic organizations, development partners, investors, and strategic stakeholders across sectors.
- Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- Meaningful work with measurable social impact.
- Growth opportunity as TMPI expands.
